Supporting IDF Soldiers

Support for Our Heroes

Strengthening the human shield of the Jewish people – through spirit, heart, and hot meals.

The Chesed Center Ashkelon maintains ongoing contact with dozens of IDF units – combat soldiers, commanders, home front troops, and female soldiers – providing support not only in wartime but all year round. We believe that a soldier who knows someone is thinking of him, praying for him, and sending love – heads into the field with a different kind of strength.

"We had a tough day out in the field, and just when we were completely drained – volunteers from the center suddenly showed up with hot food, smiles, and music. It didn't just fill our stomachs – it filled our souls. It reminded me why I'm here."

Our Response Since October 7th

Since October 7, with the outbreak of the war, the center's activity has intensified and become nonstop – offering close support for soldiers at every stage, from checkpoints to the Gaza border. One of the most powerful initiatives is the Evenings of Food and Song – beautifully set tables, live music, uplifting energy, and heartfelt words. Soldiers say these moments give them the strength to continue, feel purpose, and fulfill their mission with joy and a sense of meaning.

Main Activities

Our comprehensive support programs address both the physical and spiritual needs of our brave soldiers.

Soldier Care Packages – Year-Round

Essential items, snacks, towels, socks, hygiene products, letters from children, and small gifts that send love and encouragement.

Distribution of Hot Meals in the Field

Meals prepared in the center's kitchen and delivered by equipped vehicles to gathering areas, checkpoints, and border zones – even Friday afternoons.

Spreading Jewish Light

Shabbat candles, siddurim, tefillin, Hanukkah menorahs, and Passover matzah – helping soldiers who want to perform mitzvot but need support and supplies.

Classes, Personal Connections, and Spiritual Talks

Uplifting spiritual programming – weekly Torah portions, motivational talks, connections with Chabad emissaries, and one-on-one meetings with rabbis.

Evenings of Food, Song, and Strength

Uplifting events for soldiers – good food, live music, words of encouragement, dancing, and sometimes tears. Real emotional and spiritual support.

Emergency Support During Operations and War

Setting up tents, using vans for field support, accompanying combat units, welcoming Shabbat in the field, and distributing supplies during times of tension – day or night.
